Considered one of the finest Sitar players to emerge on the Indian music scene in the UK. Roopa Panesar has been receiving accolades from audiences and peers alike for her outstanding ability and quality of music. Her soulful and unique style of playing has left her listeners captivated. At the age of seven, she began her training under the great educationalist and sitar maestro Ustad Dharambir SinghMBE and was always recognized as a talent to watch out for in the future. She later had the privilege of learning from great maestros such as Pandit Arvind Parikh, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar, Ustad Siraj Khan and Pt. Ajoy Chakroborty.
With the incredible emotional depth of her sound, she has touched the hearts of audiences far and wide and received blessings from many eminent musicians in the world of Indian classical music. Roopa has also been teaching the sitar for a number of years and is involved in numerous projects to inspire and educate the next generation of Indian classical musicians. As well as being deeply rooted in the classical tradition, Roopa has collaborated with musicians from different genres such as Mercury Prize Winner, Talvin Singh, Laura Wright and Dirk Brosse to name a few. Roopa has toured extensively in UK, Europe and USA performing at prestigious venues and released her debut album “Khoj” in 2011.
Bhupinder Singh Chaggar is one of the foremost disciples of the gharanadar of the Benaras Gharana, the late Pt. Sharda Sahai. Over the years, Bhupinder has established himself as one of the top tabla soloists and accompanists in Europe and in India as well. After rigorous training, Bhupinder was launched giving solo performances in India.
This was only the start for Bhupinder as he continued to progress and over the years performed alongside many established artist from varying musical backgrounds. His exhilarating solo performance in the esteemed Indian classical music festival 'Darbar' was highly praised by senior artists and audience alike with a standing ovation and was later selected to be televised on Sky Arts.
